Stephanie McCullough joined Mayor Megan Barry’s Office of Neighborhoods and Community Engagement (ONCE) as the Director of Community Engagement in January of 2017. ONCE provides constituent services, administers neighborhood and community group support, increases community inclusion and supports special initiatives led by Mayor Barry. Stephanie helps to fulfill the mission of ONCE and the Mayor’s Office by coordinating connections and partnerships with the public, private and nonprofit sectors through policy, events, and initiatives. Stephanie is a member of the Urban Land Institute, and serves as an advisor for MDHA projects such as ConnectHOME, Envision Napier/Sudekum, and Envision Edgehill. She is the volunteer coordinator for the Mayor’s Office with support from Cities of Service. Prior to joining the Mayor’s Office, Stephanie worked in the Community Plans division of the Metro Planning Department, assisting with community engagement around NashvilleNext, the county’s comprehensive planning effort.
Stephanie has a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the University of Tennessee College of Architecture and Design, and a Master of Arts in Civic Leadership from Lipscomb’s Andrews Institute for Civic Leadership (now part of the College of Leadership and Public Service). Upon graduation from college, Stephanie moved to San Francisco and began her career as a marketing coordinator for landscape architecture firm, Hargreaves Associates. She was lured back to middle Tennessee to work for the Nashville Civic Design Center and the University of Tennessee College of Architecture and Design, under her professor and mentor, Thomas “T.K.” Davis. She began working with Nashville’s neighborhoods at this time, encouraging collaboration on urban and civic design issues.
Stephanie is a native of Franklin, Tennessee currently living in the Woodbine area.
