Dr. Shannon M. Zingle, owner and optometrist of Shannon Eye Care, dreamed of becoming a doctor from a very young age and recognized this calling at age 8 years old. Today, as an entrepreneur, her very dream has become reality since becoming an eye doctor and opening her private practice-Shannon Eye Care- in historic Downtown Franklin.

Dr. Zingle up in Northville, Michigan where she graduated first in her high school class of nearly 500 students. She continued her education at the renowned University of Michigan and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in biological anthropology and zoology, ranked #1 in the nation for undergraduate anthropology. In addition, she earned a minor in Native American studies with an emphasis in ojibwe language. She went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University.

Dr. Zingle’s distinguished training includes caring for the active duty and military beneficiaries of the 55th Wing of the U.S. Air Combat Command. As part of the specialty clinic of the 55th Medical group, she was responsible for performing all contact lens fits for pilots. Dr. Zingle considers her time spent at Offutt Air Force Base Hospital, caring for those who have done so much for our country, a great privilege of her life.

Dr. Zingle also completed external training at John-Kenyon American Eye Institute, a high volume surgical practice in Louisville, KY. Much of Dr. Zingle’s training was extensively focused on pre-operative and post-operative care involving refractive, cataract, and corneal transplant surgery.

Additionally, she trained at a secondary care clinic adjoining Orlando Ophthalmology Surgery Center. Here she had the unique opportunity to gain exposure to the orbital trauma specialty and accrued knowledge in the latest reconstructive surgical procedures in oculoplastics. She also continued to increase her experience performing pre-operative evaluations and post-operative examinations on a large refractive surgery and cataract surgery patient volume.

Dr. Zingle practiced primary eye care in greater Nashville for one year before opening Shannon Eye Care in Downtown Franklin, August 2015. While a young physician at the start of her career, she brings back the doctor-patient relationship reminiscent of a time gone by. She values building longtime relationships with her new patients and creates a comforting, warm environment for all. Therefore, patients are examined solely by Dr. Zingle from start to finish, care is not divided amongst other medical staff. This rare mode of practice sets her apart in today’s healthcare industry. This stays true to her vision of building a business in which patients understand their trust and care is her life’s calling and a genuine opportunity exists to establish a personal relationship with her as their doctor. The high fashion boutique style as well as the collections of handmade, couture eyeglasses add to the uniqueness and grace of her practice.

Dr. Zingle has become actively involved in local organizations and has provided pro bono eye exams to veterans as well as to numerous women & children receiving domestic violence rehabilitation locally. She believes in giving back and has also chosen to feature an eyewear collection in her optical that donates all profits to U.S. animal rescue and adoption.

Dr. Zingle is therapeutically certified by the State of Tennessee Board and the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. She is a member of the University of Michigan Alumnae Association. Locally, she is a member of the Downtown Franklin Association and Next Generation Heritage Foundation. She is a member of the Nashville Alpha Delta Pi Alumnae Association and participates in their Ronald McDonald House philanthropy efforts. Additionally, she has volunteered as a mentor to a graduating senior student attending Alpha Delta Pi at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Zingle is also a proud and active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) where she has served as a committee member for the centennial commemoration of WWI this past fall. She is also chairman of all junior members of her local DAR chapter- Old Glory here in Franklin, TN.
