Thallen Brassel is an advertising and media attorney, with a knack for networking and connecting people. She began her career at a Wall Street law firm before moving home to Tennessee in 2012. Thallen is also the founder and CEO of Lady Lunch Club, Inc., a company that helps professional women gain access to successful leaders over lunch at Nashville’s hottest restaurants. Thallen was inspired to create Lady Lunch Club when she realized that her network lacked influential leaders at both a local and national level. In an attempt to remedy the situation, she began to reach out to those she admired. Although Thallen is a corporate attorney, with prestigious alma maters and an impressive resume, she quickly realized that it was oftentimes difficult to obtain significant time to learn from these admirable people. Any quick Google® search, TED Talk® or women’s room banter tells us that Thallen’s experience is not an isolated one. Most young, women professionals face limited access to successful industry leaders. As a remedy to this situation, Lady Lunch Club, Inc. was born and Thallen made it her mission to share the “art of networking” with professional women everywhere!
In her role as Attorney Of Counsel at Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP, she has a broad range of experience advising clients in general business matters and commercial transactions. She concentrates her practice in advertising, communications, and media law issues, including advertising copy review, claims and substantiation, social media, contests/sweepstakes, and regulatory compliance issues. She also serves on the firm’s Diversity Committee as Co-Chair of Diversity Communications. In this role she has spearheaded the firm’s Annual Diversity Report and provided leadership with regard to implementing “Lean In” initiatives (inspired by Sheryl Sandberg’s best-selling book).
In her free time, Thallen is a wife and mother of two boys (AJ, 5; and Theodore, 1). She enjoys Pilates, traveling, volunteering/philanthropy, and blogging about etiquette and protocol (www.etichat.com). She is a cum laude graduate of Vanderbilt University and Duke University School of Law.
